Benzine, KS to Nickerson 112 miles

Woke up early to no wind. The 3 of us packed up super fast to get riding with no head wind. 50 miles by 11:00 am
Today the Brian, Britney, Dreux team separated. Sad to leave these guys, lots of laughs and hard cycling miles Together. They are riding on the Katy trail in MO. They feel it's less hilly than the TA. It's possible that we'll meet up in IL or VA. It's about the same mileage.

Stopped at fort Larned, KS. This post was the guardian for the Santa Fe Trail. Reported to be the best preserved fort in the U.S. It sure looks it.

Someone in the KS highway dept. thought it would be a good idea to put the cyclist right in the traffic lane rather than the shoulder.

Everyone is quick to trash riding through KS, but I like the area. The different shades of  green and brown are endless. Lots of different textures as well. Today was nice rolling hills.
The roads are a tad straight in KS

For you Tom.

Met up with Steve and Diane from RI. They are heading. To Yorktown via Katy trail.
We had casual ride and talked for about 25 miles then we put the hammer down for the next 12 miles. I don't think Diane ever pace lined at 23 mph before. Steve and I did the pulling and we all had fun.
Dinner at the cafe, one and only in town.
Spending the night in the town park next to the playground.
